4 同位语从句（ The Appositive Clause)

用作同位语的从句，叫同位语从句。它一般跟在某些名词（如fact, idea, news, promise 等）的后面，用以说明或解释前面的名词，引导同位语从句的词有连词 that, 连接副词 how, when, where 等。例如：

1）I have no idea when he will be back.

2) We heard the news that our team had won.

3) The fact that the transport of the goods costs too much was not discussed.

4) Sydney kept his promise that he would always do anything he could for Lucie to make sure of her happiness.

五、构词法

在英语中，词的构成方法主要有三种，即合成，转化和派生。

1 合成（Compounding)

同两个或更多的词合成一个词，有的用连字符“-”连接，有的直接连写在一起。例如：

2 转化（Conversion)

由一种词类转化成另一种或几种词类。例如：

1）taste (v.)-taste (n.)

It tastes good.

2) hand (n.)-hand (v.)

Let's go hand in hand.

Please hand in your exercise books after class.

3) clean (adj.) -clean (v.)

Her room is clean and tidy.

She cleans her room every day.

3 派生（Derivation)

由一个词根加上前缀或后缀构成另一个词。例如：

1)前缀 dis-	agree同意 appear出现 cover盖；遮 like喜欢	disagree不同意 disappear消失 discover发现 dislike不喜欢
in-	complete完全的 correct正确的	incomplete不完全的 incorrect不正确的
re-	write写 consider考虑	rewrite重写 reconsider再考虑
un-	able有能力的 fair公正的	unable无能力的 unfair不公正的
non-	stop停止 smoker吸烟者	non-stop不停的 non-smoker非吸烟者
2)后缀 -able	accept 接受 eat吃	acceptable可接受的 eatable可吃的
